Death of Mrs. Gee

The remains of Mrs. Gee, who died at Putney, were brought here last Monday. Mrs. Gee has been ill since last July with gastritis and erysipelas and death came Nov. 8, as a great relief from her sufferings. Ladona Ira Fletcher was born at Belvidere, Sept. 22, 1874. She was one of five children born to Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher. March 5, 1896, she was married to Fred Gee at Sutton. Three children were born to them. The eldest, a boy who died in infancy, and two little daughters, Katherine and Charlotte. They lived in Barnet the first years of their married life. From there they moved to West Northfield, Mass. And then to Putney, where Mr. Gee has a nice position as a station agent. Mrs. Gee was a member of Red Clover Rebekah Lodge of this place. She was a loving wife and mother. A woman of cheerful temperament, she looked upon many friends by her genial manner and sunny face. She will be missed by her home circle and by all who knew her. Besides her husband and little daughters, she is survived by her father and mother, a brother, and three sisters, Rolland Fletcher and Beulah Fletcher of Belvidere, Mrs. Ola LaBounty of Cambridge, and Mrs. Charlotte Mae, of West Northfield , Mass. Funeral services were held at her late home at Putney, Monday forenoon. The body brought here Monday night and taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gee where prayers were said Tuesday morning, by Rev. Grant Van Blarcom. The flowers were many and costly, and testified of the esteem in which the deceased was held. Among choicest ones were a piece sent by the grange, containing 33 carnations; " Gates Ajar", the gift of the railroad employees; a pillow; "At Rest"; from the Union telegraph operators, a bouquet of chrysan themums from the Red Clover Rebekah Lodge, and many smaller pieces. The interment was in the new part of the cemetery. Those called to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Rollard and Beulah Fletcher of Belvidere, Mrs. Ola LaBounty of Cambridge, Mass., Jerry Abbott of Woodsville, Charles Gee and Miss Laura Gee of St. Johns bury.
