Lenore E. Holmes, 80, formerly of Rochester, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in her residence in Springfield.
She was born March 30, 1924, in Rockford, the daughter of John and Martha Brendenmuhl Dorn.
Lenore married Eugene F. Holmes on Sept. 13, 1947, in Rockford.
She was a founding and active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rochester. Lenore worked many years as a registered nurse and later was a homemaker.
She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Dorn.
Survivors include her husband, Gene of Springfield; daughters, Ellen Kuykendall (Robert) of Pleasant Hill, Calif., and Margaret Holmes of Springfield; son, Robert E. Holmes (Deborah), and two grandchildren, Justin and Rachel Holmes, all of Houston, Texas; brother, Burton Dorn (Vivian) of Rochelle; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 4, in Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Rochester. Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5, in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Keith Bueltmann officiating. Burial in Rochester Cemetery.
