Richard Lange Barrett of Magnolia, Texas, passed away on February 18, 2013. Rich was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 26, 1955. Rich graduated from Loyola University New Orleans, and received his Masters in Social Work from St. Louis University. He was devoted to his wife of 34 years, Paula Hebert, and their son, Brandon Barrett. Rich focused his professional life on counseling those in crisis. He worked many years as manager of the City of Houston's Employee Assistance Program, and was recently promoted to Bureau Chief of the City Health Department. Rich served a critical role as a mental health professional for DMAT during Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy, and volunteered on the Bluebonnet CISM team. He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Barrett. In addition to his wife and son, he is survived by his father Daniel Barrett, Jr., his brother Frank Barrett, his sister Jan Dye and her husband Pat, nephews Dan, Ben and Eric Dye, Joseph and Layne Hebert, and Roberto Fajardo, nieces Genevieve, Maya, Eva, and Clara Fajardo, and Sara and Lauren Hebert, and sister-in-law Beverly Hebert. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested for Brandon's future educational expenses.
