Ignacio Man Killed in Azatea Tunnel
Pagosa Springs Colorado A 47 year old mineworker was
killed Wednesday when a pump exploded while he was
working in a tunnel.
Authorities identified him as Sam Trujillo of Route 2
Ignacio No Cause was determined for the accident but
an official from the state mining inspector's off ice was
investigating.
Trujillo was working in the Azatea Tunnel when the
accident occurred. He was employed by the Oso
Construction Co.

Ignacio Funeral services for Sam David Trujillo 46 who
was killed at the Azatea tunnel Wednesday will be at
10:00 PM Monday from ST. Ignatius Catholic Church
with the Rev. John Jaume officiating . Burial will be in
the Ignacio cemetery . Rosary will be this evening at 7:30
O'clock from the chapel of Ertel Park lawn in Durango.
Mr. Trujillo was born Jan 1 1921 at Los Martienz ,NM
where he lived from most of his life. From the past two
years he had a farm south and east of the town He
raised cattle and famed . He had worked at the Azatea
tunnel for a short time.
Mr. Tujillo is survived by his wife Esther Mary : two
daughters Alice Carlee Trujillo and Julia Rubilda and a
son Leonard Selso all of the family home : his mother
Rafelita Trujillo of Durango, : Four sisters Bessie
Herrera and Nancey Sandoval both of Los Angeles
California , Margaret Gomez of Hawthorn Nav. and
Rebecca Valdez of Oakland Calif : two brothers Mike
Trujillo of Price Utah and Cleto Trujillo , Numerous
aunts and uncle , nieces and nephews also survive.
