HANNIBAL - Vera J. Rhino, 92, of Hannibal, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at Levering Regional Healthcare Center in Hannibal.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Pastor James Bruns will officiate.
Mrs. Rhino was born June 12, 1909, in Louisiana, Mo., to William R. and Jessie Phelps McCleary.
She was married to Russell D. Rhino on Sept. 28, 1935. He preceded her in death Aug. 14, 1979.
Survivors include one niece, Pat Gill of Lexington, Ky.; one great-niece, Lesa M. Stevenson of Lexington; and one great-nephew, Jason D. Ulm of Lexington.
The family wishes to include as survivors many dear and close friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene C. McCleary.
Mrs. Rhino was a graduate of Hannibal High School. After graduation she entered nurses' training at Levering Hospital where she earned a degree as a registered nurse. Her career consisted of working for many years with Dr. Hardesty, also serving as an industrial nurse at Bluff City Shoe Factory and as a school nurse. Upon retirement, she remained active in the community through her volunteer work. She was past president of the Business and Professional Women's Club, member of Delta Sigma, Aunt Polly's Extension Club, Luther Manor Auxiliary and the Joy Sunday School Class of Fifth Street Baptist Church, along with years of volunteer work for the American Red Cross.
Memorials may be made to the Levering Regional Healthcare Center, American Red Cross or the Northeast Missouri Humane Society.
