Vivian J. Tilseth, age 83, of Menomonie, WI passed away, Monday, February 4, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Northland in Barron.

The former Vivian Jean Batchelder was born July 27, 1929 in the Town of Tainter, Dunn Co. WI to Charles and Mabel (Harshman) Batchelder. She was raised in the Wheeler area and graduated from Colfax High School in 1947.

Before her marriage Vivian worked in the Twin Cities. She married Allen G. Tilseth on April 23, 1948 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Menomonie. After their marriage they bought and remodeled their first home on Tainter Lake, then farmed on several farms before buying and settling on the farm near Cedar Falls. Vivian was very involved with the day to day operation of the farm.

Vivian was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School and Bible School and held various positions in the church. She was also a 4-H Leader, a member of the Red Hat Society and the Prairie Homemakers.

Vivian enjoyed her Stitch and Chatter group, card club, birthday club and her Wednesday morning breakfast group, she also enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, cross-country skiing, fishing, playing bean bags, reading, quilting and other needle work, making family meals, as well as traveling with family and friends. She also enjoyed the time spent at the cabin in Minong. But the most important thing in her life was her family, who will all miss her dearly.

Vivian is survived by her three daughters, Karen (Richard) Olson, Kathleen Diedrich (Jim Trinko) and Eva (Daniel) Smith; ten grandchildren, Rich Olson, Heather (Troy) Kuhn, Ryan (Lori) Olson, Summer Diedrich (Dustin Luther), Jacob (Jessica) Tilseth, Amber Boda (Andrew Turner), Bethany (Brady) Schindler, Ashley (Robert) Hoffman, Tyson Diedrich (Wendy Stuart) and Danika Smith; 18 great-grandchildren; all of Dunn County; three sisters, Beverly (Richard) Springer, Julia (John) Ryan and Cora (Lowell) Mattila; a brother-in-law, Marlyn "Ike" Hovind; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen; a son, Eric; a granddaughter, Hope Joylin Diedrich; three sisters, Gladys (Paul) O'Brien, Florence (Ross) Erickson and Cynthia Hovind as well as several half brothers and half sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2013 at Tainter United Methodist Church in the Town of Tainter, Dunn Co. WI. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in Cedar Falls Cemetery in the Town of Red Cedar, Dunn Co. WI.
