Clifford Lindall Davenport, age 82 a resident of Godfrey, IL., passed away Thursday February 21, 2013 in Rosewood Care Center in Alton

Clifford born on July 15, 1930, in Harrisburg to the late Louis N. and Geneva (Horning) Davenport. Clifford earned a BA in Education from Indiana University and a MA in Dramatic Arts from the University of Iowa. He also received Fulbright Grants to teach in England and Iran. He taught high school English and Drama in Alton for 33 years. Clifford was very active in the Alton Little Theatre. He was never married.

Surviving family members include his brother: Thomas E. and wife Elaine Davenport of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. and nephews: Scott Davenport of Harrisburg and Kent and wife Belinda Davenport of Weston, MA. and their children: Bradley, Kendall and Courtney; niece: Pamela and husband Joseph DaSilva of Walpole, MA and their children Thomas and Jessica; and niece: Carol Elizabeth and husband Robert Marti of Pepperell, MA and their children, Sam and Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Robert S. and wife Patty Davenport.

Private family burial was held Friday in Sunset Hill Cemetery. A memorial in Alton will be scheduled at a later date. Reed Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements. For those who wish, donations may be made to Alton Little Theater, 111 E. Broadway, Alton, IL. 62002.
