Thankful Nye West was born the 10th of 13 children to Ebenezer Nye. Mother was Sarah Atwood, Ebenezer's second wife. The family property granted to Ebenezer in 1720, and added to over the years, had 186 acres (on the Tolland side of the river) donated by a 3x great granddaughter in 1931 and is now the Nye Holman State Forest in Tolland, Connecticut. Ebenezer had established a toll bridge on this property in 1727.
On January 20, 1757 Thankful married Oliver West, son of Amasa West and Amy Hatch. Note: Oliver's sister Phebe West married Thankful's brother Benjamin Nye; her sister Sarah married Rufus West son of Joseph West.
Oliver and Thankful West removed their family to the Lee County, Massachusetts area and are buried there.
Thankful & Oliver had the following children:

2. Anna 18 Jul 1759 Tolland - 1765
3. Amy 9 Sep 1760
4. Caleb 4 Jul 1764
5. Amasa 20 Oct 1765 – 1846 buried Wellington, Ohio
6. Joshua 1775 – 1854 buried Pittsfield, Ohio
