Jimmy committed may years of his life to the service of his country in the United States Army. After retiring from the Army he went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma for five years. Jimmy was a member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, driving cars for the Red River Auction, watching western movies, but most of all Jimmy loved playing with his grandchildren.
Mr. Hammond is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hammond of the home; sons, Kerry Hammond and wife Dena of Durant, Oklahoma and Mikeal Hammond and friend Elaine Hammond of Calera, Oklahoma; brother, Johnny Hammond and wife Betty of Durant, Oklahoma; grandsons, Dustine Williams of Calera, Oklahoma and Blaise Hammond of Calera, Oklahoma; granddaugthers, Taylor Hammond and Jordan Hammond of Durant, Oklahoma; special friends, Chuck and Nela Langston of Durant, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Mr. Hammond was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Bea Hammond.
A Funeral Service in his honor will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel in Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. Darrell Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery Calera. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Hammond, Jimmy Hammond, Joseph Hammond, Jonathan Hammond, Jerry Presley and Ryker Marcy.
