Charlie Winchester of Sulphur Springs, and formerly Centerville, passed away Wednesday, February 20th in Dallas, Texas. He was 67 years old. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 3 P.M. at the New Salem Cemetery in the Centerview Community of Leon County. Visitation will be held Friday, February 22, 2013 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville. Charlie Winchester was born on May 15, 1945 in Centerville, Texas to Dee Jerry & Hattie Mae (Kuhn) Winchester and graduated high school in Milford, Texas. He worked for Hill Grain as a truck driver and was a member of the Cross Country Cowboy Church. Mr. Winchester had been a resident of Sulphur Springs for the past forty-six years, coming from Milford. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and cattle ranching. Mr. Winchester was preceded in death by both of his parents and two brothers, Norman & Merle Winchester.
Survivors include four sons, Dustin Winchester & wife, Stephanie of Sulphur Springs, Grady Winchester & wife, Kim of Sulphur Springs, Charles Winchester & wife, Donna of Dallas & Charlie Winchester, Jr. & wife, Karen of Syracuse, Kansas; daughter, Paula Winchester of Denver, Colorado; brother, John Dee Winchester of Centerville; sister, Alma Winchester of Leroy; fifteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Grady, Dustin, Charles, Charlie Jr., Denton and Nathan Winchester. Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas is in charge of all arrangements.
