James R. Adams, 76, of Oak Harbor, died Sunday at his residence.

He was born in Carroll Township, to Albert and Nana (Minier) Adams. In September of 1966 in Georgia he married Eleanore M. (McVicker) and she preceded him in death on Aug. 29, 1999.

He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II. Mr. Adams worked as a brick mason for 55 years for the Bricklayers Union Local 46, retiring in 1988. He was a lifetime member of the John A. Fader American Legion Post 114 of Oak Harbor and attended the Port Clinton American Legion. He was an avid gardener, collected Indian artifacts, enjoyed duck carving and was an avid Browns, Indians, and Ohio State fan.

Survivors include daughters Cyndy Moor-Krieger of Sand Beach, and Kym (Rick) Adams-Mills of Oak Harbor; sons Jack (Fran) Moor of Mobile, Ala., and Mike (Liz) Moor of Oak Harbor; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother John Adams, and son James Michael Adams.

Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Robinson-Henn-Brossia Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Interment: Rusha Cemetery, Oak Harbor, with the John A. Fader American Legion Post 114 of Oak Harbor, conducting military graveside services.

Memorials: St. Charles Mercy Hospital Cancer Center or to charity of donor's choice.
