Rufus L. Alford, 65, of Elizabeth died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, in Jefferson Hills. Retired from the U.S. Postal Service, he was also a retired Gunny Sergeant from the U.S. Marine Corps, member of Praise Assembly of God Church in North Versailles Twp., Kastan Uveges Post 732, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Elizabeth and the McKeesport Umpire Association.
Born in Glassport, Aug. 19, 1936, he was a son of the late Horace and Della Slade Alford. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor L. Lankford Alford; sons, Rufus Alford Jr. and Tyrone Alford of Washington, D.C., and Mark Alford of Pittsfield, Mass.; a granddaughter; sisters, Sue Smith of Long Island, N.Y., Bernice Smith in Georgia and Evelyn Bolding of Washington, D.C.; and brothers, Charles Alford in Arizona, Thomas Earl of Pasadena, Calif., Geni Alford in Capital Heights, Md., Elder Joseph Alford and Elder Leon Ronald Alford of Chicago, 111.
Friends will be received tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Pin the Allen Chapel AIE Church, Elizabeth. Service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Praise Assembly of God Church by the Rev. Dennis Campbell. Interment will be in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.
