obituarys for bill son Shelby green

Shelby Green, age 76, of Beelman St., Plymouth., died Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at

his residence following an extended illness.

Born February 20, 1932 in Knott County, KY he had been a Plymouth-Shelby area resident the majority of his life. Shelby was employed Wilkins Air Force Depot and Plymouth Locomotive from which he retired in 1989. He attended the Tiro Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching horse racing.

He is survived by two sons, Richard (Billie) Green of Plymouth and Jack (Denise) Green of Shelby; one daughter, Marsha Cummings of Shelby; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Corbet Green of Kendaville, IN and Odis Green of Garrett, KY; and one sister, Stella Vanderpool of Martin, KY; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille (Sexton) Green in 2007, whom he wed January 10, 1952; one daughter Kathy Maye in 2006, three grandchildren, Larry and Michael Workman and Heather Green, three brothers, Troy, George and Coy Green; one sister, Sylvia Howell; and one great grandson.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday from the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Reverend Delmer Bailey will officiate with interment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 8 PM.
