Perry S. Tracy, 73, native and lifelong resident of Placerville and for fifty-five years a local businessman, passed away Monday afternoon at this home, 191 Union Street…
Perry Spencer Tracy was born Oct. 25, 1874 in a house which stood on the site of the home in which he died. Ha was a son of the late Henry N. and Margaret Hardie Tracy and as a young man he attended the old Academy in Placerville and later took business training at Stockton.
His father was a pioneer shoe man in Placerville and the business of Tracy's Shoe Store as operated in recent years evolved from the pioneer business in which H. N. Tracy made shoes and sold them to his clients…
Mr. Tracy had always been interested in community affairs and served a term as a member of the city council several years ago during which the city acquired the nucleus of its present water system from private holders.
He had been a member fifty-five years in Placerville Parlor of Native Sons of the Golden West, and nearly forty-five years ago became a member of El Dorado Lodge No. 26, F. & A.M.
When the Placerville Lions club was formed, Mr. Tracy became a charter member of that organization.
He was married on July 15, 1903 to Miss Stella H. Ralston, a childhood schoolmate, and through the years shared with her a mutual devotion to their home, their friends and each other …
