Wilbur H. Glunt, age 88, of Richmond, died Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Reid Hospital. Born April 14, 1924, in Boston, Indiana, to Herman and Jennie C. Miller Glunt, he was a life-long resident of Wayne County. Wilbur was a graduate of Richmond High School and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the U.S.S. Cowpens in the Pacific Theatre. He was a master machinist at NATCO, retiring after 45 years of service. Wilbur also worked at Wayne Works and the railroad. He was a member of the NATCO 25-Year Club. Wilbur enjoyed bluegrass music and dirt track racing for over 50 years at Eldora Speedway. He was an outstanding source of Richmond history and facts and was a devoted family man. Survivors include his son, David (Cinda) Glunt of Richmond; grandchildren, Dennis Ray (Bertha) Rice Jr. of Richmond and Jennifer Rice of Greenwood; step-grandson, Jason (Jenny) DeBoo of New Paris, Ohio; step-granddaughter, Nicole (Allen) Stinson of Richmond; great-grandsons, Derek and Canyon; step-great-granddaughters, McKenzy and Kaylee; step-great-grandson, Colton; sister, Alice Porter of South Bend; brother, Charles Glunt of Milton; nieces; nephews; aunt, Ellen Kanke of North Carolina; and many friends including special friend for more than 51 years, Camille Deborde. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia L. Paxton Glunt who died in 2009; daughters, Vivian, Charlotte, and Jennifer; mother; father and step-mother, Alma Glunt; and brothers, Donald and Harrison Glunt. Visitation for Wilbur H. Glunt will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Gilmer Smith officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
