Susanne was born in the town of Riesa, Germany. She met her husband Omar Lawrence Lidie in Germany at the close of WWII. She was a German citizen and on her own wandering the country at the end of the war, only 19 years old and in need of help. They fell in love and were married in Stuttgart, Germany. Omar arranged to fly her back to the USA in 1948. Their first child was born in Germany in 1947. They had 7 children.
Father: Hermann Otto Maul (1 Nov 1888 - Aft. 1945) - was not heard from after the war. He was a member of the Gendarm (state police) and was killed at the end of the war.
Mother: Lydia Alma Penndorf (17 Apr 1888 - 11 Nov 1957) - died in Borna Germany, buried in Trages.
