Michael Louis Pontecorvo, 85, died Feb. 16, 2013, at Martin Hospital South in Stuart.

He was born in Long Branch, N.J. and moved to Stuart from Yuma, Ariz.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He received the Asiatic Pacific Medal with one star; American Theatre Medal, Victory Medal and Occupation Medal.

Before retirement, he owned a tavern in Arizona.

He was of the Roman Catholic faith.

Survivors include his son, Joseph Pontecorvo, and brother Anthony "Buddy" Pontecorvo.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Jennie DelVecchio and Grace Hylander.

Services: No local services are scheduled. Arrangements are by Forest Hills Funeral Homes-Young and Prill Chapel in Stuart.

Prior to retiring in Florida, Mike was a longtime resident of Yuma, Arizona. While in Yuma he was the proprietor of local nightclub "The Back Room" (one of three clubs under one roof: The Saddle Club, country; The Back Room, rock; and The Hideaway, pool tables/no live music.)
