Colby -- Theodore "Pete" Bieker, 82, died Monday July 21, 1997 in St. Joseph, Mo. He was born April 4, 1915 in Colby to Frank and Emma (Herman) Bieker.

He married Leona Billinger on June 1, 1936. She died Aug. 29, 1980. He married Moya Covery on May 9, 1987 in Colby.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on th USS Pickens in Iwo Jima, Japan. He was a longtime Colby resident, coming from Hays. He retired as a power plant operator from Central Kansas Power in 1978. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and a charter member of the VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Moya, of the home; three sons, Vernon, Fort Worth, Texas, and Robert and Chris, both of Colby; three stepsons, Marvin, Mulvane, and Michael, Leon, and Dwight, all of Wichita; three daughters, Ramona Stupka, Maybelle Moore and Peggy Young, all of Colby; a stepdaughter, Dwila Daubenspeck, Chino, Calif.; a brother, Tony, Garden City; 14 grandchildren, 12 step grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe, Alfred and Celestin Bieker, and six sisters, Elizabeth Wasinger, Clara Giebler, Helen Wolf, Caroline Leighton, Angela Stratton and Eva Bishop.

Services were today at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby, with Father Galen Long officiating; burial in the church cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Kersenbrock Funeral Home, Colby.

Memorials are suggested to the Sacred Heart School, Colby.
