age 27 yrs. 10 mos. 9 daysGILBERT COX IS DEAD
Gilbert Cox, aged 21 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Cox of this city, died Wednesday morning at 3:15 o'clock after a long illness of consumption. Evidences of this disease were apparent two years ago and the young man was sent to the home of his grandparents in Indiana where it was hoped he would recover. When he grew weaker, he was brot to Minot where every known remedy was applied, and as a last resort, he was sent to Redlands, California, about a year ago where he camped out in the mountains. Here he found relief but the terrible disease had gotten too firm a hold on him.
When he realized his days were numbered, Gilbert started for home and when as far as Sioux City, Ia., he became so ill that he was taken from the train and given excellent care at a hospital. His father went to Sioux City and accompanied Gilbert to Minot, where he lived just a week.
Gilbert was an upright young man in every way and had a great many friends in Minot who regret his early demise. He was born at Warren, Ill., but lived at Bowel, S. D., and Harvey, N. D. before coming to Minot with his parents four years ago.
Besides his parents, he leaves three brothers, Charles, Harry and Ercel, and a sister, Leota, to mourn for him. The Independent extends sympathy in this hour of bereavement.
