Elizabeth W. Turner Trone, formerly of Oxford, Pa

Elizabeth W. Turner Trone died Feb. 15, 2013, after a long illness. Born in Bryn Mawr, she was the youngest daughter of the late Joseph P. and Mary G. Walker. Betty graduated from Moore College of Art, Philadelphia. She moved to Oxford in 1954. Betty and her first husband, William P. Turner, Jr., became members of the Oxford Presbyterian Church in 1956; they spent many years in Oxford raising their children and lovingly restoring their Chester County farmhouse. Betty was a substitute teacher in the OASD, belonged to many organizations and after the death of her first husband in 1976, moved to Elkton, Md. in 1980 and married her second husband, William D. Trone, who died in 1996. By this time Elkton was her second home and during the remainder of her life she was active in several civic organizations and continued to pursue her passions: her family and friends, her animals, antiques, art, cooking, gardening and reading voraciously. Betty is survived by her daughters, Patricia W. Turner and Susan P. Turner, of Lincoln University; and her grandsons, Evan H. and William T. Castro, Phoenix, Ariz. She was predeceased by her foster son, Larry S. Sharpe, NYC, N.Y. in the fall of 2012. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.on Friday, March 1, at the Oxford Presbyterian Church, 6 Pine St., Oxford, PA 19363. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Oxford Public Library's General Fund, 48 South Second St., Oxford, PA 19363. Arrangements are being handled by the Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. Oxford. On-line condolences may be made at www.elcollinsfuneralhome.com.
