Mrs. Emma Carmilla Bauer, 49, a lifetime resident of this city and vicinity, passed away in Alton Memorial hospital Friday morning at 5 o'clock after a lingering illness.
She made her home at 922 Longfellow avenue. She was born in Glen Carbon on June 11, 1879 (sic), to the late Joseph and Ann Provaznick. She had reached the age of 49 years, 5 months and 11 days. On February 23, 1916 (sic), she was married in Clayton, Mo., to William Bauer of Edwardsville, who survives.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, three daughters, two grandchildren and two half-sisters, Mrs. William Beasley of Virden and Mrs. Gene Kreider of Collinsville. One son, Roland, was killed in action in the Pacific area in World War II. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Provaznick.
The body may be viewed at the Lesley Marks funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening. At 12 o'clock noon Monday the remains will be taken to St, John's Methodist church, of which she was a member, to lie in state until time of services. The last rites will be held at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. W. E. Bush officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery.
