Arlene Shawcroft, 82, died Feb. 16, 2005 at the Conejos County Hospital.
She was born March 27, 1922 in La Jara, the fourth of five children born to Andrew and Gertrude Belle Holt Rasmussen. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She grew up in Sanford and was married to Jack Shawcroft on June 1, 1938. Their marriage was later sealed in the Mesa, Ariz., Temple.
Devoted to her church and family, she will be remembered for her many acts of kindness and friendship which extend from California, Arizona and Colorado, in which she and Jack lived during their 53 years of marriage. She enjoyed serving in numerous church callings, but her love was with the Primary children whom she served for more than 30 years.
She loved spending time with her family, cooking, working in her yard, jig saw puzzles and watching basketball.
Her husband, parents and siblings, Bill, Doris, Mildred and Jerry, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Jackie (Nancy) Shawcroft, of El Cajon, Calif., daughters Linda Davidson, of La Habra, Calif., Taria (Forrest) Claunch, of La Jara, and Kathy (John) Warczak, of Tacoma, Wash.; 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at the La Jara Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with burial following in the Sanford Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Manassa, and from 10 a.m. until service time at the La Jara Relief Society Room.
Arrangements are by Rogers Family Mortuary of Manassa.
