FLOYD MAHLEY DIES IN FLORIDA
Former Local Man 36, Stricken Suddenly
Word was received here today of the death of Floyd Mahley,36, former Shelbyville
and Greenfield resident and county native, who died suddenly yesterday evening at
Lake Worth, Fla.,where he and his family had resided for about a year. Mr Mahley's
death reportedly was caused by a heart attack and he had a heart ailment for some
time.
His parents, Mr and Mrs. Ben Mahley of Moral Township, left this morning for Lake
Worth by plane from Indianapolis.
Surviving with the parents are his wife and two sons, 13 and 10 at Lake Worth, and
several aunts and uncles in Shelby and Marion counties.
Born in Moral township, Mr Mahley would have been 37 on Aug. 20. He attended
the township school, was graduated from Moral High School, and was a Navy
veteran of World War II.
A former employee of the local Bradley Hall furniture store and a city resident for
several years. Mr. Mahley later managed the Bradley Hall store in Greenfield. He
and his family moved to Lake Worth about a year ago and he had been operating a
drive-in restaurant there.

RITES HELD FOR FLOYD MAHLEY
Stricken on Beach at Lake Worth, Fla.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p. m. today at the Smith Funeral Home in Lake
Worth, Fla, for Floyd Mahley, 36, county native and former Shelbyville and
Greenfield resident who died suddenly of a heart attack Thursday in the Florida city.
Burial was also at Lake Worth.
Mr. Mahley, who left here and moved to Lake Worth about a year ago with his wife
and two sons, was sitting on the ocean beach with a friend when he was stricken
and died instantly Thursday, sometime between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m., accordling to
word received here. He had had a heart ailment for several years.
Surviving with the widow, the former Helen Swafford of Frankfort and two sons, Don
10, and Rob 13, are several aunts and uncles in Shelby and Marion countiesand his
parents, Mr and Mrs. Ben Mahley of Moral township.
Mr. Mahley had recently purchased a new home and he owned and operated a
drive-in restaurant on U.S. Highway 1, at Lake Worth

Services for Robert Floyd Mahley who died Thursday were held at the E Earl Smith
and Son Funeral Chapel at 2 pm Monday. The Rev H E Bixler, supply pastor at the
First Presbyterian Church officiated.
The body of Mr Mahley was found face downward at the beach by two women who
notified life guards at the Casino. They with the Palm Beach First Aid Crew worked
futilely for nearly an hour after which he was pronounced dead by a local physician.
It was said he had suffered from a serious heart condition.
A partner in Bob and Don's Drive-Inn at North Dixie at 9th Avenue, Mr Mahley came
here in 1953 from Greenfield, Ind. A veteran of World War II with service in the
navy, he was a member of the local American Legion Post, the Presbyterian
church, the Elks and Chapter 64, Order of the Eastern Star, all of Greenfield and
Lodge No 404, F and A M, New Palestine, Ind.
Survivors include the widow, Helen, sons Robert and Donald, all of Lake Worth and
