Vincent Charles Beuke, 74, retired Clarkston auto body shop owner
Seattle - Vincent Charles Beuke, a retired auto body shop owner, died of congestive heart failure Sunday at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle. He was 74.
The son of Franklin and Anna Narup Beuke, he was born at Krakow, Mo., Oct. 2, 1918. he was raised and attended schools at Krakow.
He married Evelyn Lillian Vogt at Krakow Sept 2, 1939.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy as a petty officer first class, and was stationed for a time at Farragut in Northern Idaho.
Soon after the war, he went into the automobile and truck body repair business, working in Spokane, Potlatch, and Lewiston.
In 1958 he and his wife moved to Clarkston, where he and his son opened Dave's Body and Paint Shop in 1963. He retired from the business in 1977.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clarkston, the knights of Columbus and the Lewis-Clark Moose Lodge No. 751. He was also a past president of the Lewis-Clark Auto Body Association.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, traveling and automobiles.
He is survived by his wife at the family home in Clarkston; two sons, Dave Beuke of Lewiston and Wayne Beuke of Seattle; six daughters, Betty Elsensohn, Martha Stoffer, Pattie Clausen and Cathie Schnabel, of Lewiston, Mary Lee Squires of Oroville, Calif. and Jeanne Moser of Colton, Washington; three sisters, Alice Kimball of Bland, Mo., Madeline Haslag of Krakow, Mo., and Cecelia Borello of Vacaville, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A sister Mary Beuke; two brothers, Al and Joe Bueke; and a granddaughter died previously.
Visitation hours are from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Merchants Funeral Home in Clarkston. A vigil serrvie will follow at 7 p.m. at Merchant.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clarkston, with the Rev. Edmund Robinson as celebrant. Burial will follow at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston.
The family suggest memorials be given to Holy Family Catholic School, 1002 Chestnut St., Clarkston, Wash. 99403
