Leighton Tuner, Sr.. one of the oldest settlers in Chicago, died yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at his residence, No. 1326 Asbury Avenue, Evanston. Heart failure was the cause of death. He was 77 years old. In 1855 he came to Chicago from Detroit and soon after went into the livery stable business at the corner of Illinois and Rush Streets, it being the second stable established in Chicago. Twenty-five years ago Mr. Turner moved to Evanston where he established a livery business. The funeral will be held tomorrow from the residence.

The funeral of Leighton Turner was held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the family residence, No. 1326 Asbury Avenue, Evanston. Rev. S. J. Herben, acting pastor of Emmanuel Methodist Church, officiated. Those who acted as pallbearers were D. S. McMullen, J. R. Woodbridge, J. L. Bray, M. L. Record, Jerome Smith and A. J. Shutterly. The remains were interred at Rose Hill.
