Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette, for Gladys M. Thibodeaux, age 91, the former Gladys Meyers, who passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 in Alabaster, Alabama.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Reverend Steve LeBlanc, Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. A Poem will be read by Tony Champagne. Musical Selections will be, "Amazing Grace", "I Know My Redeemer Lives", "Prayer of St. Francis" and "J'irai la vour un jour".

Survivors include one daughter, Daisy Dean Thibodeaux; one adopted daughter, Rita Benoit; a grandson, Donald Jude Meche and his wife, Robyn Meche; four great grandchildren, Lucas, Daniel, Jacob Bryan and Logan Meche; one sister, Lula Breaux; three brothers, Milton, Lanis and John Dalfred Meyers and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleomer Thibodeaux; a son, Donald Ray Thibodeaux; two grandsons, Bryon and Sean Meche; her parents, August and Edna Sonnier Meyers; four sisters, Claudia Rivet, Esther Verot, Beulah Thibodeaux and Lelia Winslow; three brothers, Wilton, Norris, and Carroll Meyers; her in laws, Paul and Anna Thibodeaux.

Born on October 2, 1919 in Rayne, Louisiana, Mrs. Thibodeaux was a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for most of her life. She lived in Maylene, Alabama for a brief time. Mrs. Thibodeaux was a devout member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette. She was also a member of the Women's Guild and the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Rosary Group. Mrs. Thibodeaux was a loving wife, wonderful mother, grandmother and sister, who devoted her life to helping everyone.

Pallbearers will be Donald Jude Meche, Tony Champagne, Tim Breaux, Jon Breaux, Dallas Meyers and Horace Urquhart.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Friday, May 27, 2011 from 2:30 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, May 28, 2011 from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed Friday at 6:30 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home by the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Rosary Group.
