Frank J. Schrimpf, 78, died late Friday morning at his home at Francis Creek after a lingering illness.

Mr. Schrimpf was born Nov. 30, 1879, at Sheboygan, son of the late Frank and Margaret Schrimpf. He came to Francis Creek in 1898 and in 1921 married Theresa Espen. The couple settled in the Francis Creek area. He was a veteran of World War I serving with the 32nd Division, 127th Infantry, three years, two of them overseas. Mr. Schrimpf had been employed many years by Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., retiring in 1945.

Surviving are his wife, three sons; two daughters; a sister, Mrs. Anna (Schrimpf) Gerhardt of Detroit; five step-sisters, a step-brother; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, and at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Officiating at the solemn requiem Mass will be the Rev. Raymond Schrimpf, S.D.S., and the Rev. Reginald Schrimpf, S.D.S., sons of Mr. Schrimpf, celebrant and deacon, respectively. The Rev. Justin Pierce, S.D.S., will be the sub-deacon. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
