Irene Matzura Obituary
Pawcatuck - Irene R. Matzura, 102, of Pawcatuck passed away peacefully Nov. 18, 2023.
Born in Mt. Carmel, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Statkiewicz.
On Sept. 24, 1940, Irene married the love of her life, Michael Matzura and together shared 62 years of marriage.
Irene will lovingly be missed by her daughter Carol Smith with whom she resided; her son Michael Matzura (Kathy); five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Irene enjoyed saltwater fishing with her family and celebrated her 100th Birthday doing what she loved and caught the first and largest fish of the day!
Irene was a long-time member of the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center and enjoyed playing Bingo.
Burial will be in Saints Peter & Paul Greek Catholic Cemetery, Catawissa, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center, 27 Chase Street, Pawcatuck, CT 06379.
