IMMIGRANT BATEMAN (BEF. 1782)
Updated 25 September 2015
Our Immigrant Bateman ancestor was born before 1782. From a biography of his Grandson Thomas Bartlett Bateman, found in the Biographical Appendix of Goodspeed History of Dyer County, Tennessee, page 1026, we learn that our Immigrant Bateman was of English ancestry, and moved to Dickson County with his wife and two of their three sons, from Tyrell County, North Carolina.

After reviewing census records, it is my belief that his wife's given name was Julia, and they married in North Carolina prior to their migration to Tennessee, with their three sons. Her maiden name remains unknown to me at this time.

His death is presumed to occurred between the years of 1808-1811, in either Dickson or Humphreys County, (date of death based on the date of birth for his son Jeremiah Bateman). His final resting place is unknown for certain.
