ALFANO, MR. TOMMIE F., SR., age 74, of Birmingham, passed away on December 21, 1997. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church; the Knights of Columbus, Council #625; P.O.W.-National Organization of Prisoners of War, Birmingham, Alabama division and the American Legion. He was a Veteran of World War II, where he initially was listed as an M.I.A. after being wounded and taken as a prisoner of war on July 18, 1944. His wartime honors include: a Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle East Service Medal, Air Medal, Two Oak Leaf Clusters, Silver Star and a Purple Heart. He retired as owner of Vinesville Super Market in January 1997.
