DIETZ, DR. CARL FREDERICK, age 78, of Minor, went home to be wi DIETZ, DR. CARL FREDERICK, age 78, of Minor, went home to be with The Lord on Monday, January 7, 2002.

Loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Blair Dietz; three daughters, Carol Donaldson (Steve) of Homewood, Cindy Fayet (Bobby) of Corner, and Melissa Simmons (Danny) of Pleasant Grove; ten grandchildren, Doug Fayet (Laura), Brian Fayet (Kim), Rebecca, Joshua, Matthew, Rachel, and Mary Katherine Donaldson, and Taylor, Tyler, and Carly Elizabeth Simmons; one great granddaughter, Lacy Alexandra Fayet; two sisters, Ms. Amelia Wood of Northport and Mrs. Margaret (Claude) Marcrum of Pleasant Grove; one brother, Mr. Albert (Virginia) Dietz of Pisgah Forest, N.C.; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert Otto and Carolyn Frederick Dietz; and by his brother, Mr. Robert (Billie) Dietz of Hueytown.

Dr. Dietz was born on April 25, 1923, in Wylam, Alabama. He graduated from Ensley High School and attended The University of Alabama, where he was a member of the Phi Beta Pi Medical Society. He received his degree in Medicine from The University of Alabama Medical School in 1946. He served his internship at St. Luke Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. He served as a Captain in the Army Medical Corp- 4th Infantry Division.

Dr. Dietz practiced family medicine in Wylam from 1953 until 1999. He was affiliated with BMC Princeton, Lloyd Nolan and Holy Family Hospitals. Dr. Dietz was a member of The American Medical Association, Alabama Medical Society, and Charter Member (1965) of the Caduceus Club- Medical College of Alabama (President 71-72). He also served as President (85-86) of the Jefferson County Academy of Family Physicians. He receive a Silver Stethoscope from Baptist Princeton for 46 years of service.

Carl was a faithful life-time member of Wylam Presbyterian Church, Elder and Deacon. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Wylam Presbyterian Church or Baptist Health Foundation c/o LaPAZ Dialysis Fund, PO Box 830605, Birmingham, AL. 35283-0605.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 10, at 1:00 p.m. at Angwin Mortuary Center Birmingham Chapel. Rev. Peter Blair officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be, Bobby Fayet, Steve Donaldson, Danny Simmons, Doug Fayet, Brian Fayet, and Mark McCuthcheon.
