Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Wednesday, January 29, 1964, page 2:
  Mrs. Rose Ostendorf, 79, who formerly made her home at 216 Seminole St., died this morning at 3:50 at her residence on Route 3.
  Surviving are her husband, John J. Ostendorf, whom she married June 5, 1907 at St. John's Nepomuk church in St. Louis; two sons and a daughter, Ernest E. of Route 3, George J. of Route 1 and Mrs. Robert E. (Sylvia) Weber, Staunton; a brother and sister, Charles Touzinsky, St. Louis, and Mrs. Leo (Sophie) Carpin, Turlock, Calif.  Eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive.
  Born Jan. 17, 1885 in St. Louis, Mrs. Ostendorf had resided in the Edwardsville area the past 50 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Sophie Hartnake Touzinsky, two brothers and two sisters.
  She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church.
  Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at the Weber funeral home where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.  A Requiem Mass will be read at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic church with the Rev. Louis Elbow officiating. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery.
