Luther was the son of Henry S. Babb of Westbrook, Cumberland County, Maine and Sarah Jane "Jennie" Robinson Babb of Saint John, Queens, New Brunswick, Canada. Jennie and Henry were married about 1868 in Westbrook, Cumberland County, Maine. Jennie and Henry had four children. They were: Luther P. Babb was born in 1869; Alice Jane Babb was born on 14 Feb 1874; Fanny Morris Babb was born on 24 July 1877; and Lemuel George Babb was born on 05 September 1882. All the children were born in Westbrook, Cumberland County, Maine.
