RICHMOND -- Alvin D. Acord, 74, of Tre Lane died on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at his residence after a long illness.
He was born in West Virginia on Sept. 23,1935, the son of Wirt and Mary Lynn Acord.
Al was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed reading, gambling and spending time with his children.
Al proudly served his country in the Navy, retiring in 1973. He later worked as a marine electrician at Bath Iron Works, retiring in 1996.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce; his parents; and many brothers and sisters.
Al is survived by his wife, Barbara Acord, of Richmond; children Michael Acord, Russell Acord, Timothy Acord, Stephen Acord, Christopher Acord, Rebecca Acord and Barbara Doucette; stepchildren Jerry Gilbert, Phillip Gilbert and Kerri Jo Smith; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 19, at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the spring. A gathering will follow at the Railway Café Lounge, Richmond.
In Al's memory, donations may be made the Breast Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the care of Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond, ME 04357.
