Helen Vest Gardner, 87, of Scottsburg, Indiana died Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Scott Memorial Hospital. She was born January 7, 1922 in Scott County, Indiana, the daughter of the late George W. and Gladys D. (Mitchell) Vest. Helen was married to Henry "Gib" Gardner, who died June 11, 1986. She was a homemaker, a member of the New Providence Baptist Church near Austin, Indiana, a charter member of the General Charles Scott Chapter N.S.D.A.R., a member of the Scott County Historical Society, Scott County Genealogical Society and the Widow's Tea Group. Survivors include a daughter: Sue (Norman) Christie-Terando of Indianapolis, Indiana; two sons: Lloyd (Sandy) Christie & Norman G. (Brenda) Gardner both of Scottsburg, Indiana. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by a sister: Georgianna Vest Gladden. Interment at Scottsburg Cemetery.
