Agnes M. Mead of Lynden, WA, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 9, 2008. She was 86, born in Bellingham on March 19, 1922, to Marion (Martin) and John N. Peterson.
Agnes attended Bellingham Schools. She was a waitress in her Mom's restaurant, worked at Halls Bakery, sold Stanley Products, and was a Bingo caller for the American Legion and Assumption Church.
Her marriage to James Leo Jones produced four children; a later marriage to Wilbur Gordon Mead also produced 4 children. Agnes's first love was Bingo. She bowled for years and was the secretary of several leagues. She was entered into the Hall of Fame in Bellingham Women's Bowling Assoc. She also loved blackjack. Not one to sit still, Agnes also baked and decorated cakes and made lots of wedding cakes.
She was preceded in death by husband Wilbur Mead and brothers Jack and Don. Agnes is survived by her three daughters, five sons, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, a sister, and numerous nieces and nephews.
