He was a retired vice president of purchasing from Union Boiler Co., Nitro, and a lifelong resident of Nitro. He was a graduate of Nitro High School and a member of First Baptist Church, Nitro. He was a veteran of the Navy and the W.Va. Army National Guard. He was past president of the Tri-State Purchasing Association.
Surviving: wife, Elizabeth "Libby" Burdette; daughters, Debra Dearien of Hurricane, Elizabeth Gibson of Poca; son, Michael Burdette of Washington, Wood County; sister, Faye Williams of Daytona Beach, Fla.; brothers, Leslie Burdette of Daytona Beach, Selva "Lew" Burdette of Sarasota, Fla.; seven grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Nitro, with the Rev. Lawrence Hoptry officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
