The Jasper Weekly Courier, Jasper, IN – Nov. 30, 1888

Died of typhoid fever on November 7, 1888, at Greer, Lincoln County, Washington, Ty., Mr. George H. Stewart. He was a son of Mr. Robert Stewart, who was well known to the old citizens of this place. George and his three brothers and two sisters became orphans while yet young. While in childhood the dignity and earnestness of his manners gave evidence that should God spare his life he would be a man among men. Two years ago he became a member of the C. P. church, of this place, and has lived a life in due conformity to the teachings ever since. He was an earnest, industrious and ambitious youth, and his ambition and enterprise led him a year ago to the far west. He entered land in Washington Ty., and was faithfully employed on it, and he was called away, at the age of twenty-one years, nine months and eighteen days, to meet the loved ones gone before.
He leaves two brothers here and a brother and two sisters in the territory to mourn his untimely end. His remains were interred near Geer. Here where his boyhood days were passed, every one was his friend.
