Lucile M. Spaulding, 93, life long resident of Herington, died Saturday, March 2nd, 2013, at Herington. She was born December 16th, 1919, at Shady Brook (north of Herington), the daughter of Gustav G. & Olga (Will) Kandt.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 PM, Sunday, March 10th, 2012, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating; burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30pm until 8:00pm Saturday, at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
Mrs. Spaulding was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington. She was a legal secretary for Wm. Alward, after high school; and then was a bookkeeper for the family trucking business. She graduated from Woodbine High School with the class of 1938.
She married Luther D. Spaulding on August 24, 1940, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Parsonage, Herington; he preceded in death on December 1st, 2012. She is also preceded in death by her sister Olinda Rees, her brother Lawrence Kandt, and her parents.
She is survived by two (2) daughters: Barbara Swart of Pine Island, MN, and Kathleen Bernhardt of Jackson, GA; two (2) sons: Ron Spaulding of Kennesaw, GA, and Jim Spaulding of Pratt; eight (8) grandchildren ; fourteen (14) great grandchildren; and four (4) great-great grandchildren.
