Ian Thomson born Sept. 27, 1913 at Morristown, Lamoille, Vermont as Ian Thompson later changed his name to Ian Fisk Thomson.

Ian's parents divorced when he was young, and his mother Lillian took him abroad in her travels as an artist. He lived his early years in Paris going to a French boarding school and became fluent in French. Around 1913 he lived with his mother in Japan and talked about experiencing the earthquake there. He later earned a degree in electrical engineering from Antioch College. On May 14, 1938 Ian married Martha Laff in Yuma, Arizona and moved to San Diego in 1939 where his first son, Carroll (Douglas) Thomson was born. He later had another son, David and a daughter, Gale. At some point in his life he came to Alaska and worked for a gold mine for several years and in 1995 he moved to Anchorage, Alaska and spent his later years there.

Mr. Thomson retired as an aerospace engineer for General Dynamics in San Diego and was able to go back and visit France. He was a longtime and founding member of the Unitarian Church of San Diego. His special interests were travel, the outdoors and his family.
