Margaret King Boston was named after Margaret King, who raised George Whitefield Boston, Margaret's father. George's mother, Sarah Elizabeth Tison, had died 10 days after his birth. His father, James Boston, gave George to the King family to raise, as he still had young toddlers at home to care for and needed a mother for George. George grew up and named his son William King Boston, after the man who raised him and Margaret King Boston after the woman who raised him.
