Graveside services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 8 at Woodbine Cemetery for former Artesia resident Ronald W. Speir of Lawton, Oklahoma.

Mr. Speir, 52, died from Colon Cancer Sunday, March 3, 2013 in Lawton.

Taylor Robles of Hermosa Drive Church of Christ will officiate at the services. Visitation at Terpening & Son Mortuary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday.

Ronnie was born May 8, 1960 in Artesia; the son of John Paul Speir, Sr. and Martha A. (Cooley) Speir. He graduated from Artesia High School in 1979.

He worked as an auto salvage technician in Lawton and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his father; by two infant daughters and by his grandparents.

Survivors include his mother Martha Speir of Artesia; daughters Whitney Speir of Artesia and Brittany Speir of Lawton; a son Vernon Speir of Lawton; sister Toni Blackburn and husband Don of Lawton; brothers Don Speir and wife Tajuana of Midland, Texas, John Speir of Lubbock, Texas and Lonnie Speir and wife Bonnie of Atlanta, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the Christian Children's Home in Portales, N.M.
