Clifford was the son of Hermon H. Cole and Margaret H. Woods. He grew up to marry Jennifer Jane Weaver Sept. 20, 1975 in Auburn, Ill. They never had any children, but they had many animal children. Clifford was a very good golfer and at one time in his life considered a career in golf. Clifford was buried with his parents and grandparents.

Clifford Charles Cole 60, of rural Mechanicsburg, died at 3:30 A.M. on Friday, Aug.14, 2009 at St. John's Hospice. He was born on July 24, 1949 the son of Hermon Harrison Cole and Margaret H. Cole of St. Louis, MO. He married Jenifer Jane Weaver Sept. 20, 1975 at St. Benedicts Church, Auburn, Ill. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Cole of rural Mechanicsburg, mother, Margaret Cole of Hilton Head Island, S.C., two brothers Hermon Harrison III (wife Janet) William Henry (wife Sandy) both of St. Louis, mother-in-law, Mary Keller Weaver, of Springfield; two brother-in-law, Maz Richard Weaver (wife Judy) of Arcola and William E. Weaver of Quincy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Hermon Harrison on July 24, 2008. Cliff served in the U.S. Army from 1968-71 as a specialist E-5 at Fort Monroe, VA. Prior to coming to the area, he was a golf professional in St. Louis and Jacksonville, FL. He was employed as a Construction Superintendent For Cole Developement Company and was owner/operator at Cole Lawn Care. Cliff was involved in numerous clubs and organizations, was an avid Cardinal fan, and especially loved teaching and fostering interest in youth golf and enjoying the comaraterie of hisgreat friends at Cardiac Rehab. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Crematory Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Family will receive friends for a memorial gathering from 4 P.M. Monday Aug. 17, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home. Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola officiating.
