He was born into this life May 25, 1933 to Henry E. and Zelda (Cox) Hughes in Levelland, TX.
Harley married Gladys Stone May 4, 1953 at Lums Chapel in Littlefield, TX.
He was a member of Sunset Church of Christ.
Harley was preceded in death by his parents; a son Harley Lance Hughes; a grandson Skylar Travis Lamar; and a sister, Wanda Faye Griffice.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Hughes; three daughters, Lita Shaw and husband Michael of Lubbock, Donna Prather and husband David of Lubbock, and Sherri Lamar and husband Michael of Dallas; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A graveside memorial, to celebrate Harley's service to our country, will be scheduled at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions, in honor of Harley Hughes, be made to Sunset International Bible Institute 3723 34th St Lubbock, TX 79410 or to In Search of the Lord's Way P.O. Box 371 Edmond OK 73083.
