John Ray was the fourth of five children of Edd and Willie Spruill. He lived with his parents and farmed untill entering the U.S.Army during WWII. He went thru basic training at Camp Breckingridge Kentucky and later in advanced training as a Ski Trooper at Camp Hale Colorado. His Unit would later serve in Italy.He was at home on leave when V.E.Day was announced.He was preceded in death by his son Bobby Ray and his parents.He is survived by his wife Flonnie Mae (Hoover)Spruill,children, Patsy S Bailey of Greenwood,Debbie S Noah (Brent) Greenwood,Wayne of Cleveland and Grand children Mike Spruill and Les Spruill of Petal and Scott Jackson of Isola.
