Stephen Anthony "Doc" Proctor departed this life on Sunday, March 4, 2013, at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Steve was born on May 17, 1951, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, to Marion and Rosalind Johnson Proctor. "Doc" as he liked to be called, was a loving son, brother, husband, father and devoted grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father Marion. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 39 years, Bernice, of Ruckersville, Virginia; his loving mother, Rosalind of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania; a son, Stephen and Crystal; a daughter, Tiffany; Rockville, Maryland; sisters, Edith English of Fort Washington, Maryland, and Sheila Cox of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania; one brother, Gerald of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania; one granddaughter, Estella-Raye; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Steve served in United States Army for 20 years and retired as Chief Warrant Officer-3. He received the Army Achievement Medal for Meritorious Achievement. He was employed for 16 years as an Intelligence Air Defense Analyst and Intelligence Analyst for the United States Army National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC) in Charlottesville, Virginia before retiring in 2007. Steve was known for his wit, signature phrases, and infectious charismatic spirit. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Doc loved to travel and had an extreme passion for anything related to the railroad and trains. He also loved music and showcased quite a collection over the years. Services were held at Emmanuel Christian Center Ministries, 14343 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Virginia 22968, with Bishop Michael V. Jackson Sr., officiating. J. F. Bell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
