Thelma Lavette Teer, 79, of Shiloh, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at her home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Mr. Neil Bond officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Lavette was born in Shiloh, Limestone County, Texas, to the late Thomas Alfred and Nora Etta Wood McElroy. She married Jodie Teer on February 9, 1952, in Mexia. God and her family were the focus and inspirations in her life. Lavette loved family gatherings, spoiling her grandchildren and working in her yard and flower garden. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Jodie Teer; sisters, Anna Beth Wells and Bessie Thomas; and brother, Alfred M. McElroy.

Lavette is survived by her daughters, Laura Teer and Frank Leonard, and Debbie English and husband, John; sons, Rick Teer and wife, Carla, and Jamie Teer and wife, Jovonna; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Bernie McElroy; and sister, Tommie Wells; and a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
