Mary C. Vernatter, 77, of Manchester, died Sunday, July 1, 2001 at her daughter's residence. She was born in Kentucky on Dec. 5, 1923, daughter to the late Elbert and Judy (Binion) Burton. She was a cook for the Senior Nutrition Center for 22 years before retiring and attended the Manchester Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include four sons, Charles Vernatter of Williamsburg, Jack Vernatter of Olive Hill, Ky., Donald Vernatter of Cincinnati and Randy Vernatter of Rarden; seven daughters, Barbara Ailshire, Marlene Gifford, Judy Porter, Sherry Ranly and Sandy Boling, all of Manchester, Tammie Stevenson of West Union and Carolyn Thacker of Marion; 27 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elbert Burton of Georgetown and David Burton of Cincinnati; and one sister, Janie Burroughs of Winter Haven, Fla. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Vernatter in 1987 and a daughter, Charlotte Vernatter, in January 1999
