Henry B. BATTEN
Funeral services for Henry B. BATTEN, 69 year old farmer of Ripley, were held from the Vail Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Arthur LAYMAN of the Ripley EUB Church in charge and the burial was in the Otterbein Cemetery. Mr. BATTEN died at 6 o'clock Sunday evening following a long illness. He was born near Weston, a son of David D. and Sarah R. ALLMAN BATTEN, was born on Feb. 25, 1878 near Weston, Lewis County and departed this life Nov. 23, 1947. He had lived in Jackson County for many years. He was a member ot the Martin Chapel UB Church for the past 50 years. On 14 April 1907 he united in marriage to Effie HINZMAN.
Survivors include his widow Effie HINZMAN BATTEN, one son, Brooks BATTEN of Ripley, three grandchildren; Arlene, Keith and Kenneth BATTEN of Ripley; four sisters, Mrs. Alda HITT of Jane Lew, Mrs. Rose HALTERMAN of McWhorter, Mrs. Bertha COLLINS and Miss Ida BATTEN, both of Miami, Florida.
