Ernest S. Benoit, 80, of Lake Charles, LA died at 11:15 AM on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in a local hospital.
Mr. Benoit was born October 27, 1932 in Lake Charles, LA, where he was a lifelong resident. He served his country in the U.S. Army / Air Corp. and the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Benoit retired from the IBEW Local #861 after over thirty years of service. He was a lifelong member of the VFW Post #2130, where he was a member of the Coonies and a lifelong member of the American Legion Post #1.
Mr. Benoit is survived by his sons, Timothy Benoit of Lake Charles and Perry Benoit and fiancée Stella Kilpatrick of Sulphur, LA; sister, Yvonne Doga of Lake Charles; grandchild, Timothy Benoit, II and fiancée Ashley Foy; and great-grandchildren, Zoey Benoit and Jayde Foy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Dean Benoit; son, Terry Benoit; parents, Semeon and Olga Derks Benoit; and sisters, Elaine Swire and Faye Stailey.
His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Chris Fuselier will officiate. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
